sweet stuffs

This one may not sound all that great, but trust me, it’s amazing!  The sweet and sour flavor is more subtle than you would think when combined with the sausage.  I like to use a Hawaiian-style sweet and sour sauce, but I’m sure any type would work (they’re not that different).  These are the ingredients I’ve found work best, but it wouldn’t hurt to experiment a little.  I doubt it would come out poorly.

Ingredients:

3 eggs

1 tablespoon of milk

¼ cup diced onion

1 garlic clove, minced

1 zesty sausage patty

2 slices American cheese

1 tablespoon of your favorite sweet and sour sauce

Olive oil

Salt

Black pepper

Preparation:

(1)  In a small skillet, cook and break up the sausage patty.  Once the sausage is cooked, add the onion and garlic and continue cooking until the onion is translucent.  Set aside.

(2)  Beat eggs together with milk until fully blended.

(3)  In a well-greased, non-stick 10-inch skillet.  Heat until just hot enough to sizzle a drop of water.  Pour egg mixture into pan.

(4)  The egg should begin setting immediately.  When it has set enough that only the very top of the egg is still moist, add the onion, garlic and sausage mixture so that it covers half the egg.

(5)  Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the onion, garlic and sausage mixture as evenly as possible.  Put the two slices of cheese over that.

(6)  Carefully use a flexible, soft spatula to flip the uncovered portion of the egg over top of the cheese and other stuff on the other half.  This is the hardest part of making an omelet and the reason you need a very non-stick pan.  If it breaks a little, don’t worry about it.  It will still taste the same, it just won’t look as pretty.

(7)  Once folded in half, let the omelet cook for another couple minutes to really melt the cheese in.  Salt and pepper to taste.
