sweet stuffs

The idea was actually conceived from some chicken wings I used to eat a few years ago made by a guy named George. George closed his business and moved away and I have not been able to reproduce the hot, sweet, tangy wings that he made, but I’m close.

So give these a try and let me know what you think.

Things You’ll Need:

One 5 lb bag of frozen chicken wings
KC Masterpiece B-B-Q sauce
Ketchup
Nance’s sweet spicy brown mustard
maple syrup
orange juice
minced garlic
minced onion
beer – gotta have beer
Tabasco sauce
butter or margarine
corn starch
vegetable oil
Deep fryer
plastic tupperware bowl with a lid to shake your wings in

Step 1

First gather all your ingredients together, get a small sauce pan to cook everything in, open your beer and have a taste.

Step 2

Put the recommended amount of vegetable oil in your deep fryer and turn it on. Once deep fryer is hot carefully add your wings. Now let’s get going on the sauce.

Step 3

Because this is a “Frankenstein” recipe exact amounts are not crucial!

In the sauce pan:
* add about 2 or 3 cups of ketchup
* 1-tablespoon of Nance’s sweet spicy brown mustard
* 1/4 cup of maple syrup or honey or both!
* 1/2 of orange juice
* 1/4 cup of KC Masterpiece B-B-Q sauce
* 1-tablespoon of mince garlic
* 1-tablespoon of mince onion
* 1/4 cup of beer (take another sip)
* 2/3 cup of butter or margarine
* 2-tablespoons of Tabasco sauce (adjust to your liking)
* a pinch of corn starch – just a pinch cause this really can make it thick

Step 4

Simmer (very low) on the stove for 10-15 minutes stirring (and tasting) occasionally.
Keep an eye on your wings. I like my done to the point where they just start to get crispy.

Step 5

Turn your sauce off and let it cool down a bit. When your wings are done take them out of the deep fryer, let the oil drain off them, then place all your wings in a big plastic tupperware type of bowl.

Step 6

Dump your sauce on the wings, put the lid on tightly, and carefully shake the bowl to cover the wings with sauce.

Step 7

Serve your wings on a plate or large bowl, with a side of blue cheese dressing and salary if desired. Enjoy!

Note: Experiment a bit with this recipe! Try using some yellow mustard, or apple juice instead of orange juice. Add a little more butter if you need to.

Always be careful with deep fryers! When you first put the wings in be careful of splattering hot oil
